Did You Know? Permanent Bathrooms at the Beach.

The following are some interesting items from the July 2022 BOD meeting:

The trouble with the Porta Potties at the beach the past few years have apparently reached a tipping point. During the BOD meeting on Saturday July 16th, 2022, it was announced that permanent bathrooms will be constructed at the beach and waste will be pumped across the bridge to a newly constructed leach field next to the boat launch. The area next to the garage and boat launch is where all of the trees will be removed to construct the new leach field. This area is currently outlined with survey flags & tape.

The cost of the new permanent bathrooms is not to exceed $220,000

Details shown on the plans include:

3 Woman's stalls

1 Mens' stall & two urinals

2 sinks in either section.

No information was made available on yearly costs to operate and maintain the structure:

• Supplies, cleaning & maintenance
• Electricity
• Septic Pumping
• Yearly startup & shutdown costs (drainpipes, winterize etc.)

While the BOD should be commended for looking at ways to remedy the Porta Potty short comings at the beach, it would be helpful to know how these costs will compare to the current rental fees. How much more expensive is it to have a permanent structure?

There was also no mention of how the construction is going to be paid for. Will the yearly member HOA fees be increased? Will there be a onetime special assessment?

To generate additional revenue to cover rising association expenses will the price of docks be increased from $1,000 per season to a “market rate” (What other members pay at Ambrose Cove) of $3,800? A couple of years ago the BOD changed the dock policy to allow docks to be passed on to family members in other homes within Suissevale. This has resulted in the turnover time on the dock waiting list waiting list rising to an all-time high.

Did you know that there are plans being made to build a “board walk” around the marina?
