Email sent to the POASI Board

The following email was sent to the POASI Board by Mark DeJon who has served to consolidate questions from Suissevale Members.

Hi,

I’ve followed the request to save questions for the meetings but unexpectedly, I won’t be able to attend this month in person and since a call-in option is not available, my only alternative is to email. Simple yes or no responses are welcome where appropriate.

Question 1) Could the board reconsider the value of emailed questions?

A) It would reduce the time of the meeting and board members wouldn’t be put on the spot with unexpected questions.

B) It would also keep the board meetings from being a barrier for inclusion to the community and continue to utilize new ideas and contributions.

C) Fixing our current divisive culture is now a distinct possibility with Rich Deforge as president. However, a lot of work is required and answering questions monthly doesn’t seem like enough time to address issues before the next election.

D) Emailed questions and answers could be included into the minutes or a FAQ document on the web site. This would help to minimize recurring questions.

Question 2) Can community teams be created to take on some problematic issues. Here are a few to start.

A) IT Committee

B) Dock Committee

C) Finance Committee

To use the picnic table volunteer project as a model, board members will just have to manage and oversee projects, as the community volunteers will handle the bulk of the work. One non-board member of the group can act as liaison creating a clear channel of communication. If implemented correctly, this will greatly reduce the workload and some responsibilities of each board member involved. It will reduce costs to our community as well as provide an opportunity for board members to work directly with community members and increase community harmony.

Question 3) Will the voting record be made available to community members? This is a standard democratic practice. i.e. I believe the new covenant voting record is even available online from the town/county. Determining how people voted is not possible and people can be reassured of this if concerned.

Question 4) Are community members permitted to listen to the audio recording of board meetings?

Question 5) Which board members decided to refuse revealing financial records resulting in the Canty/Howlett legal action?

Question 6) How much did the board spend on this legal dispute?

Question 7) Can the homeowners water main valve replacement list be posted on the web site?

Question 8) Can a list be provided showing how many years all the dock holders have had a dock? This would include docks passed along in a trust.

Question 9) Are random audits done periodically to confirm each boat is owned by the same person who is listed as a dock holder? If not, can it be?

Question 10) Can community members be permitted to call in to the monthly board meetings? If there's a cost, members may opt to pay it themselves. Alternately the meeting can be streamed using Zoom.

Question 11) Will financial information continue to be posted on the web page monthly such as the July 2019 financial records?
