Info from February Board Meeting

Several members of the LoveSuissevale committee attended the February 16th meeting of the POASI board meeting.

Here is some top-line reporting from the meeting:

Elections

Applications to run for BOD slots must be submitted to POASI by March 13th before 10 am. Interestingly, the application documents are not on the Suissevale website. One board member suggested that the date be pushed out for a month to give members from out of state more time to visit Suissevale and get ten signatures, etc. Two members voted yes to the motion and all the rest voted no. Some members felt that a yes vote would have increased the chances of more members running for office. Ballots must be in by May 7th and they will be opened and counted on July 5th, Members are welcome to observe the July 5th procedure.

Wells

It was mentioned that the survey of the land that could have new wells was completed and the results and cost are being prepared. POASI owns a lot on Wintersport Street that is a possible location for a new well. Or maybe one well there and another at the survey location.

R&W

Someone from the audience asked about R&W Realty and Hank Hardaway (replacing Bob Ashton, who was not at the meeting) said they have owned several lots in Suissevale for many years. POASI is interested in some of these lots but has not been able to engage R&W in serious talks.

Green Space

A member asked if our goal is to increase green space? He has heard something about POASI flipping a lot for a profit. Hank replied that it is the board’s goal to increase green space and no lots should be sold unless the entire board votes to sell the lot. No motion was made or voted on at today’s meeting. It is not clear from the discussion what are the Board’s goal for vacant lots is.

Marina Pricing

Not from the board meeting, but some interesting news. Members will remember that the Board of Directors did not raise marina rates on members for 2019, and they stay at $1000. Last year they were promoting that boat owners who did not have a marina dock should use Ambrose Cove Marina, where valet was available for $1799. Ambrose raised rates by $400 for this summer.
