Lots Can Happen in One Year
This marks one year since we opened the LoveSuissevale.com website. We thank all of you who have read and followed the website.
The goal of the site is to bring open and transparent communication to Suissevale, as we simply could not follow what was happening in Suissevale via the Suissevale website, Board of Directors (BOD) meeting notes, or even attending most meetings. We couldn’t even find out who our neighbors were, as there is no public member list. Dialogue on Suissevale issues was muted as the BOD would discourage members from raising questions or questioning decisions by their attitude or by instituting roadblocks to discussion. At the time, we felt that we were among only a few people that wanted more transparency and civil dialogue with the BOD.
We recognized that most of Suissevale members come to Suissevale to get away from everyday pressures and don’t really want to worry about what is going on in Suissevale. To find out what members thought, we conducted a survey. The results are here. Members’ big picture is that they essentially want better transparency on finances/reserves, and they want to understand how Suissevale is going to handle the water issue.
Is this really important to Suissevale members?
You betcha. Over 100 of you voted for our platform and slate of directors in this election. That is a lot of homes/lots voting for a new platform, when only a total of 170 members voted a year ago. Separately, 302 homes/lots voted in the most recent BOD election. That means that approximately another 250 of you still have not voted. We want everyone participating.
While no LoveSuissevale candidate was elected to the board, LoveSuissevale will continue to provide information vital to the community, especially if the BOD does not provide it. Importantly, we will advocate for more open communication by the board. In addition, we seek financial oversight. Finally, we want better public dialogue on big issues like water.
Members of LoveSuissevale will also be an important force in advocating for better New Hampshire HOA laws, which are not up to the standards of more progressive states (like Florida) in protecting members’ interests.
What we do is about you. We need you. Please spread the word and tell your neighbors to sign up for LoveSuissevale.com.
