Recent Suissevale BOD Newsletter

I was happy to see a newsletter posted on the Suissevale Web site dated May 25, 2020. See:Suissevale.com Newsletters. After reading it I still have lots of questions and concerns.

What happened to the $11,000 garage that was going to be placed on the waterfront? Did the negative member feedback on its location result in a new location? Has the project been delayed or canceled?

What are the “various misc. projects to be performed in the clubhouse buildings” for $25,000? I recall money being allocated to tear down the beautiful field stone fireplace?

There is a statement in the newsletter: “There were many projects that were brought to the attention of committee members from members of the community and members of the BOD”. Since I have never seen any surveys seeking input on projects other than the recent Club House enhancement survey, I wonder how the BOD receives input? I attended a 5-year planning committee meeting and was told there would be no public input taken at the meeting. Is there a secret picnic table at the beach that has a “suggestion box” on it that I do not know about? I wish the BOD would share how all the input was received.

It turns out that I live at the base of one of the hills that is going to be paved. Not once has there been the courtesy of any communication (with me or my close neighbors) on the project to solicit feedback and concerns such as speeding, placing speed bumps on the road, runoff etc…

Dredging the boat ramp? Since the States Landing boat ramp is under construction and apparently not usable for the foreseeable future, now does not seem like the best time to begin a project that will likely interfere with the Suissevale boat ramp during prime usage season. Why impose the hardship of having to go over to Lees Mill or pay a fee at Ambrose Code to launch a boat or a Waverunner?

At this moment in time I think that the $100K cost of paving the roads should be placed on the backburner, the affected homeowners should be engaged, and any concerns addressed. The dredging of the boat ramp should be tabled until the States Landing work is completed. This buys time to see what unfolds over the next several months.

Most of these projects are not urgent enough to justify taking money from reserves, implementing a $40 per homeowner assessment or “attempting” to sell lots. Let’s see some good community stewardship.
