Time to Address Common Property

Regardless who is elected to the Board of Directors this year, fixing the dock assignment system is long overdue.  Creating a fair dock policy may seem impossible but it’s not.  If people created a problem, people could fix the problem. Although there have been many unsuccessful attempts to correct the common property dock assignment system, the community can and should fix this.  LoveSuissevale can help.

The community has never been this well connected and organized thanks to the LoveSuissevale online resources.  If you don’t like the dock system, this is the time to do your part in our community and contribute however you can.  Please spread the word.  By inclusively bringing our community together, we can be a positive force and part of the solution to fairly make docks available to all our neighbors.

The Board declined to have a community committee to review the policies.  Some family members that will inherit a dock from the 2016 dock policy change will be opposed to a fair system, but the docks are common property.  The docks should be available to the entire community.  We can try to appease these family members and lessen their impact if the community so decides.  For example, a provision could be made to allow these family members a grace period of 5 to 10 years before any changes take effect.

The community can electronically provide dock system improvement suggestions, we can then create a community survey and present the results to the Board.  If certain Board members ignore the community, those Board members will need to be voted out next year.
