Waterfront Garage at Shore

Love it or hate it?

During the September 2020 BOD meeting the Waterfront “Garage” project was approved. The minutes reflect the cost of the project was $15,000: $12,000 for the Garage ($1,000 more than the previous estimate) and $3,000 for site work. The complete cost of the project remains unknown since the cost of the site plan drawings and permitting fees has never been discussed. It is possible that the total amount spent on this project is closer to $20,000.

This project and expense moved forward despite the fact that the majority of Suissevale members surveyed were not in favor of the project or it’s expense. All of the recent BOD discussions of maintaining “Green Space” and discouraging building in Suissevale are not consistent with putting this structure on the beautiful waterfront.

The September minutes contain the following comment: “By standing anywhere on the island, you cannot see this garage shed as done by experiment with a green 8x8 tarp that was hung in the woods”

There were other less expensive methods, and alternate locations to place a structure to store a tractor that did not disrupt the beautiful views on the waterfront.
